Storage Migration Technical Support

Required Skills:

•Work with Customer to review the existing storage environment that is in-scope for migration to the new client Alletra storage solutions.
•Make recommendations for remediation of the server and SAN environment to ensure adherence to current client support matrices.
•Consider factors affecting the data migration activities, such as agreed outage periods, planned change freezes, post-migration testing requirements, future strategies, and end-of-support dates for the legacy Pure Storage and Dell/EMC XtremeIO storage solutions.
•Review the proposed configurations for the new HPE Primera and Alletra storage solutions to be deployed.
•Consider the existing environment, the business requirements and HPE best practices for data migration to make recommendations for the data migration toolsets to be used. Migrations will use both array-based and host-based methods as appropriate for Windows, Linux and UNIX (AIX) servers.
•Support with a full discovery of the workloads running on the storage arrays in scope for migration.
•Support the creation of supporting documentation required by Customer prior to migration.
•Review and provide input into the project plan and migration schedule to be created by the project manager, including identification of any quick wins that may be achievable by early migration of selected servers and/or storage arrays.
•Support the implementation and configuration of the recommended data migration toolsets, including during migration pilot testing to be carried out.
•Work to execute and support the data migration activities, including investigation of any issues arising, and regular review of data migration processes and procedures to ensure adherence to HPE and other recognized best practices for data migration.
•Provide information to the project manager on a regular basis regarding the status of the migration activities.
• Strong communications and organizational skills as resource will need to engage directly with various levels of customer and HPE teams.


Assumptions include but are not limited to:
Client will deliver the services remotely. There are no restrictions on the location of the resources to be provided by client, or on the provision of remote access to any such location.
The client resources provided will work flexibly on either the HP Storage or Dell/EMC XtremeIO environments

Special Requirements:

• Ability to work various shifts (24/7) as changes can occur 7 days a weekdays, evenings, or nights. (actual schedule tbd)
• Resources must reside in US (or have a valid work permit) - Must be able to work on site, as needed, throughout the course of the project.
